Skull and Sun
Skull and Sun
Size 50” x 30”
Light and dark are at work in this piece. The golden light pouring into this abandoned factory and juxtaposes with the ominous skull mural that symbolizes the men and women who once worked here. This contradiction, balanced in an eerie and immersive exposure conveys both hope and despair.
This piece is part of Adam’s “Abandoned Spaces” series that explores the beauty that can be found in the decay of all dilapidated places.
The reverse acrylic subframe provides a sleek and contemporary finish to this piece. This framing technique involves a fine art C-Type photographic print mounted between a sheet of perspex and an aluminium-backing sheet. It removes the need for a heavy frame, eliminates unwanted light reflections and comes with a subframe on the back, making it easy to hang (it is much lighter than a frame with glass). It also allows the piece to sit virtually flush to a wall when hung, adding to its modern aesthetic.
